Wild Lettuce probably originated in Central Asia, but it is now grown throughout the world. Lettuce was cultivated as a food crop by the Ancient Greeks, Romans, and Chinese. Lettuce was brought to the New World very early; so early in fact, that the Hopi tribe incorporated it into their religious rituals. They smoked the resin of Wild Lettuce Leaf to induce dream states. In spite of this, and the alternate name of "Lettuce Opium," the narcotic effects of Wild Lettuce Leaf are negligible.
